Project Scope:

The Curley House is a Boston Landmark and historic home of former Boston Mayor James Michael Curley. Wessling Architects completed a Building Enclosure evaluation in 2019 that included forensic investigation and diagnosis of the causes of ongoing water infiltration.

• Repair and repainting of all exterior woodwork including the historic shamrock cutout window shutters.

• Restored sunroom and its original decorative woodwork (previously covered over).

• Restored original doors and windows (including the large stained-glass window in the grand stairway).

• Repaired slate and copper roofing.

• Replaced modern mudroom addition and awnings with new construction that provides necessary accessibility to the building while maintaining the historic character of the building and meeting Boston Landmarks Commission guidelines.

• Restored garage door openings to their original size with new doors to replicate the design of the originals.

• Interior renovations to repair damaged finishes and provide accessible restrooms.
