An 11 story building located in Boston across from South Station, was constructed using pre-cast panels with brick masonry mortared directly to them without a back up cavity or proper flashing for drainage. Water that penetrated the brick masonry was becoming trapped within the panels and migrating to the interior of the building. On the exterior of the building the brick and mortar joints were becoming severely deteriorated and producing excessive amounts of surface efflorescence. All sealant was replaced, 100%, on all sides of the building. |
